Dr. Andrew Casden is a board certified orthopaedic spine surgeon specializing in treatment of herniated discs, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis and degenerative disease of the spine. Dr. Casden performs surgery on the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. In addition, his interests and expertise include spinal deformity such as scoliosis and kyphosis in children and adults.
Dr. Casden has extensive experience in the new and exciting field of minimally invasive spinal surgery (MISS). Many conditions previously treated with conventional surgery can now be addressed through MISS. The advantages of MISS include shortened hospital stay, less scaring, less bleeding and a quicker recovery. MISS can be used in all types of spinal surgery including spinal fusions and patients can expect a quicker return to work.
As the Associate Director of the Spine Institute Dr. Casden and his associates are often called upon to perform complex spinal revision surgery. The Spine Institute is recognized as one of the premier centers for revision spinal surgery.
Prior to joining the Spine Institute, Dr. Casden was the Chief of Spine Surgery in the Department of Orthopedics at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. At Mount Sinai, Dr. Casden was Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic and Neurosurgery.
Dr. Casden joined the Spine Institute as Associate Director in 1998. He is Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is actively involved in the teaching and research projects of the Spine Institute.
Dr. Casden is available for consultation at the Spine Institute in New York City or at his satellite office in White Plains, New York.
