The Clinical Team

The Spine Institute of New York offers excellence in care to each patient, providing the most comprehensive and effective treatments for spine conditions and injuries. Our group is comprised of dedicated and knowledgeable individuals, who work in a team-based provider approach, which places us at the forefront of spine treatment centers.

During your experience at the Spine Institute, you may meet with a number of medical professionals. At our office, our Nurse Practitioners will work with the physicians on evaluation and treatment of your spine condition. If your condition requires a hospital stay, a capable team of Physician Assistants and Nurses will help the doctors take care of you before and after your surgery. You may work with Physical Therapists on the road to recovery with the goal of strengthening your muscles to help prevent you from re-injuring yourself.

Nurse Practitioners

Nurse Practitioners at the Spine Institute of New York are state licensed and board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse who has a master’s degree combined with 2 years of additional clinical training. Nurse practitioners are trained to assess, diagnose and treat medical conditions, including the writing of medical prescriptions. At the Spine Institute, nurse practitioners see patients in conjunction with the spine surgeons and physiatrists. They evaluate new patients, provide educational information, respond to patient phone queries, and manage pain medications in the immediate pre and postoperative period.

Physician Assistants

Physician Assistants are licensed healthcare professionals and board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants to practice medicine. They are an integral part of the hospital healthcare team involved in providing quality post-operative care including, but not limited to, medical and pain management following spinal surgery. Physician Assistants coordinate your post-operative care with multiple disciplines including nursing and occupational therapy to facilitate your recovery from spinal surgery and assure your progression towards independence in anticipation of discharge to home.

Physical Therapists

Physical therapists are professionally educated at the college or university level and licensed by the state of New York. Physical therapists help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients with injuries or disease through therapeutic exercise, manual therapy and modalities (i.e. electrical stimulation, ultrasound, etc). They also restore, maintain and promote overall fitness and health. Physical therapists affiliated with the Spine Institute of New York interact and practice in collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants.

Care Team

We have a dedicated team that will work with to you to guide you through the patient process. This includes assistance with scheduling appointments, scheduling a surgery if necessary, assisting you with check-in, obtaining your medical records and answering your questions.
