disorders. His interests include the treatment of spinal
deformity such as scoliosis, kyphosis and other spinal disorders.
Dr. Casden specializes in the surgical treatment of herniated
discs, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, tumors and adult
spinal problems.
Prior
to joining the Spine Institute, Dr. Casden was the named
Chief of the Spine Surgery in the Department of Orthopedics
at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York in 1989. At
Mount Sinai, Dr. Casden was Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic
Surgery and Neurosurgery where he was recognized as Physician

Dr.

role and is actively involved in the teaching and research
projects of the Spine Institute.
Dr.
Casden has extensive experience in the new and exciting
field of minimally invasive spinal surgery. These techniques
can be used to surgically treat many spinal problems
from disc herniation to spinal fusion. In 2002 and 2003
he was the director of a coarse titled “Pedicle
Screw Fixation of the Thoracic Spine” which taught
other spinal surgeons about the latest surgical techniques
for the treatment of spinal deformity. Dr. Casden utilizes
the most recent most recent bone growth technology available
(BMP) when performing spinal fusion.
Perhaps
no field of spinal surgery is as exciting as ADR (artificial
disc replacement). Because of the Spine Institute’s
ongoing research Dr. Casden is able to offer his patients
this alternative to spinal fusions. ADR’s preserve
motion and promise to be a major breakthrough in the
treatment of spinal problems for the future. ADR is only
available in a few select centers in the Northeast and
the Spine Institute is fortunate to be one of them.
